White, near white or white blend Hybrid Multiflora.

Origin:

Bred by Rudolf Geschwind (1829-1910) (Austria-Hungary (former), before 1885).

Class:

Alba, Ayrshire, Hybrid Multiflora, Rambler.

Bloom:

Cream, pink undertones, yellow center. Creamy white, shading red, yellowish center, large, very full (Blanc crème, nuancé de rouge carné, jaunâtre à l'intérieur, grande, très pleine.). Medium to large, very full (41+ petals), in small clusters, globular bloom form. Once-blooming spring or summer.

Habit:

Climbing. Light green foliage.

Height: 8'2" to 9'10" (250 to 300cm).

Growing:

USDA zone 6b through 9b (default). Hardy. very vigorous. Blooms tend to ball in wet weather.

"Ännchen von Tharau" is a folk love song dedicated to Anna Neander (1615 Tharau - September 28, 1689 Insterburg), the daughter of the priest of Tharau (today: Wladimirowo in the Kaliningrad oblast). The song was written 1634 by Simon Dach on behalf of Johann von Klingsporn, who unsuccessfully wooed her. Anna married instead three priests consecutively. The original song is in the Samland-dialect of the Königsberg (today: Kaliningrad) region.
