Rose Listing Omission
Paint it Black
Though Paint it Black is very reminiscent of Black Baccara, they are not synonymous. Paint it Black is its very own cultivar bred by Kordes Rosen as a part of the "Blütenbeet Kollektion". Labels show the following information: "Paint it Black® Beetrose, Züchter: Kordes Rosen, Blütenbeet Kollektion". One big difference is that Paint it Black does indeed have a scent, whereas Black Baccara is not fragrant.
Paint it Black is being retailed by Heinje Baumschulen. They write: "Rose Paint It Black: This plant is protected by plant variety rights. Propagation and commercial cultivation are prohibited!" This makes me think they may posses some core information about the cultivar. https://heinje.de/en/brands/besondere-rosen/
Promesse de Fleurs has a very detailed, informative and picturesque description of the rose: https://www.promessedefleurs.com/rosiers/rosiers-par-variete/rosiers-the-grandes-fleurs/rosier-a-grandes-fleurs-paint-it-black.html
Kordes Rosen (W.Kordes' Söhne Rosenschulen GmbH Co KG) has per January 2024 published a Trademark Protection overview of their rose varieties that have been registered for plant variety protection or have received plant variety protection, either as national applications or in the EU. The Paint it Black cultivar is a part of this list. https://www.rosen.de/download/Markenschutz_Kordes_Januar-2024.pdf?srsltid=AfmBOorp9leXZCuqTiduKyticQItc4-Nhy_F5qHX6o-lEhsAb9njdjyV
(I tried posting this as a comment to Black Baccara instead, as Paint it Black is listed as a synonym, and I can see it has been reported as missing omission previously, but still does not have its own listing - but for some reason I cannot submit my comment)
