LIke many of you I too have hunted for any gleanings on Remembrance. I read once, and Ive not been able to find the article since, of Alister discussing Remembrance at a Rose show. HE said that it came out of a cross with Blackboy. in all my hunting Ive also tried to backtrack from 1947, when AC donated the rose to the ICWGs, to find references. As he presented the Glenara Seedlings at Rose Shows, and presented tressles full of new seedlings, there is a reference of seedling 3660 or 3690 with the description of Remembrance listed this appeared in the Australasian Melbourne, May 4th 1940 and contained this reference, "Seedling No. 3,660 was also noticeable, the buds and bloom somewhat like Black Boy, with a deep sheen of light on the inner surface of the petals."
[The download translates this text as seedling No. 3660, but very clearly, reading the article the seedling No. is 3690.]
I have since started a facebook group called Australian Rose Exchange hoping that maybe someone from those areas where "Remembrance is blooming in the Pacific" might be able to give us an idea if it actually still exists there.
Ive also had contact with the AWGC who told me that it certainly does not know of the rose anymore and possibly the rose died out because of a fungal disease or overcome by rodents.
I hope any of this helps. Darryl.
