Bred by Eugène Verdier fils aîne (France, 1863).
Introduced in Australia by Thomas Lang in 1866 as 'Madame Victor Verdier'.

Bloom:
Red.  Cherry-red.  Strong fragrance.  Average diameter 3".  Large, double (17-25 petals), borne mostly solitary, in small clusters, cupped bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  
Habit:
Bushy, few or no prickles/thorns.  Large foliage.  

Height: 5' (150cm).  Width: 4' (120cm).
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).  Hardy.  Prune after flowering is finished.
