So far I can tell you that spring time Columbus is full of challenges.
First it was white fly and powdery mildew. Then about the time I had that under control along came the deer, they ate every bud off my roses. Roses that were poised to bloom within days.
On the bright side the deer also ate most the leaves that were infected with powdery mildew.

In a couple of weeks the roses recovered and soon there was new growth... well along came the aphids and out came the neem oil. The aphids seem to be under control but sawfly larvae (rose slugs) are having a field day. I'm working on the rose slugs daily.

So my personal belief is that Ohio is the buggiest place I have ever lived!

We are now settled in our new home in Columbus Ohio, spring is here and my new rose garden is beginning.
If you're interested in my newest rose garden please check out "All Things Roses - Dove's rose garden in Columbus Ohio"

I started with nothing but 3 acres, too many shade trees and 20 roses I moved with me from California. (all but one survived).

My plan was to pot up only the special roses, ones that took me a couple of years to find or have very special meaning to me.
Eighteen so far and my husband says I'm out of room. So I guess I failed to convince him to rent a trailer.
All but a few of these roses are from my muse garden (as you can tell by the names)

So I add to my group of roses I'm taking with me when I move.
My husband says he will have to rent a trailer to hold them all.
Today I potted up:
Cumberland Rose
Midsummer Night's Dream
Calliope

I didn't think I'll go over 10 must have - must dig up roses, apparently I was wrong. Eleven so far and I'm not done yet.
