Does this rose have the typical " (almost synthetic) apple-like" smell?

The 1996 and 1999 references says it has a strong apple smell.

Hi Patricia, Is the name of this rose a "working" name and the rose a found rose? The "Brownlow Hill Rambler" reminds me of Paul Noël. Or is it completely different?

I believe it is a "working name" of a rose found at the NSW Brownlow Hill property. The earliest reference I was able to find on it was 1980. Thank you Jay-Jay for your valuable comment. My 'Paul Noel' also has a later repeat and today it has two flowers left, but high in a tree. They seem to be a one-colour all-over pink compared with the potted rose's whitish outer petals. 'Paul Noel', for me, has long thin canes that fall vertically out of its tree. It is too early for me to say whether "Brownlow Hill" will do the same. I can't really see any of the beetroot stain on the reverse side of the petals that Esmond Jones talked about in the 2003 reference (and which I have certainly seen here on "Brownlow Hill Rambler" ) in any of the 'Paul Noel' photos. I think too that 'Paul Noel' has more of a star-burst of petals than "Brownlow Hill Rambler". However, I have added a note on the main page to compare the foundling to 'Paul Noel'. Grateful for your thoughts.

Hi, You're welcome, I was mainly comparing the red stems and the way the leafs and leaflets are attached. The other photo's of the "Brownlow Hill Rambler"(s') flowers show some resemblance with Paul Noël too. More than Your flowers do... I must admit. But they are wonderful with those whitish outer petals. In a pot roses can behave different as You know. Initially Paul Noël rises up, than seems not to be able to bear the weight of the stems with leaves and/or flowers and than drops. (Is my experience with Paul as a standard-rose) See the magnificent standard of Irina Shushakova and this-one photographed by Ron Harris in Madrid: http://www.helpmefind.com/rose/l.php?l=21.68419 Good luck with this particular quest (one of many, I presume)
