Registration name: U.P. Hedrick
Origin:
Bred by Isabella Preston (Canada, 1926).
Introduced in Canada by Agriculture Canada, Ottawa, Ontario (Central Experimental Farm) in 1932 as 'U.P. Hedrick'.
Class:
Hybrid Spinosissima.  
Bloom:
Pink.  Strong fragrance.  5 petals.  Large, single (4-8 petals), open bloom form.  Prolific, once-blooming spring or summer.  
Habit:
Tall, bristly , compact.  Dark green foliage.  

Height: 6' (185cm).  
Growing:
USDA zone 3b and warmer.  Can be used for garden.  Hardy.  
Breeder's notes:
U. P. Hedrick is an open-fertilized seedling of R. spinosissima altaica, with single rosaline-pink flowers. This plant is sometimes damaged in the winter.

Patent status unknown (to HelpMeFind).
Notes:
Re. parentage, see References. Although Preston never says specifically that Betty Bland is the pollen parent, she makes it clear that she thinks it is.
