This rose receives only a good- for disease resistance. Does anyone know the specifics of this supposed vulnerability? Is it blackspot or mildew?

Is this the same as Mme Louis Leveque or Mme Edouard Ory? Has anyone grown them side-by-side? Gregg Lowery from Vintage Gardens doesn't stock Mme Edouard Ory because he feels it's a duplicate of another rose. Unfortunately, he couldn't recall which one.

I read somewhere that 'Gloire des Mousseux' is confused in commerce with 'Mme. Louis Léveque'. My GdM, from Schultheis is a very vigorous shrub with blousy, double, cupped, pale pink blossoms. I've never seen either of these varieties, outside my own GdM. Is there an easy way to distinguish them, or do I need to submit more detailed information than the very rough sketch I just wrote? Thanks.

Hello Melissa, I too am puzzling over mosses. I have had the two windows on my screen for 'Gloire de Mousseux' and another for 'Mme. Louis Leveque' and looked long and hard at the moss on the buds, particular with the pictures from frederic as he has both mosses. I cannot see enough differences there to guide you. There are two photos of Gloire des Mousseux' from Gerdhart and I like to think that they might indicate more clearly what this rose's buds look like, but I have no proof, apart from a feeling that soft moss might indicate a centifolia heritage. 'Gloire des Mosseaux' is said to be once blooming in spring. 'Mme. Louis Leveque' is said to sometimes repeat. Probably if you ever see a later bloom on your plant, that may help you decide which one you have. I have 'Mme. Louis Leveque' from two sources and I am fairly happy that it is correctly named as it has repeated a little for me. It has a harder moss.
I have another rose which came as 'Leda' (which it obviously is not) and I have been considering 'Common Moss' for this one. Your message has alerted me that I may have to consider 'Gloire des Mousseux' as well.
Admin - the default petal count of 17-25 petals seems wrong for 'Gloire des Mousseux'? As does the 50 petals for 'Common Moss'. Didn't the word centifolia mean 100 petals?

Thanks for the input, Patricia! I'll keep it in mind. Also I'll have a look at the petal count, which I hadn't thought of as a diagnostic key (I'm new at this). My 'Gloire des Mousseux' gives me the impression of having more petals than that, but perhaps I just don't know what that number of petals looks like.

Re the classification of hybrid musk for 'Gloire des Mousseux'. This classification needs changing to 'moss rose'.

Yes and combined with the entry for 'des' Mousseux, which is the correct spelling.
