It was a great thrill for me when that grand old character of English roses Douglas Gandy was awarded a Trial Ground Certificate with a lovely pink Cluster Flower seedling bred from his own 'Florence Nightingale' x 'Silver Jubilee'. Douglas who is now nearing his middle 80s is still frequently seen manning his stand at shows treating his public to a wealth of stories many of which extend back 50 years and more.
