I purchased a new rose this week called the "Abbotsford Rose". Does anyone have experience with it? It only had a few blooms left but to me resembled "The Fairy" other than the colour. I've put it in a pot for now as garden space is at a premium!

Hi, janetmac. Please tell us about this rose. All I can find is that it is sold by three nurseries in Canada - one in Ontario, one in Quebec and Hortico. I don't know the name of the breeder, date of introduction or the classification of the rose. Where did you get it?

Hi Cass, I purchased the rose at a "Country Depot" in Kingston, Ontario. The tag doesn't give much info, grown by NORTHERN PRIDE "named in honour of Abbotsford Nursery's 40th Anniversary". Seems to be a pretty little thing though. I had planned on ordering a bare root "Sweet Chariot" this year but didn't get around to getting my order in and this reminds me a bit of the pictures I've seen of that rose. I can't detect much scent though, unlike what I've heard about Sweet Chariot.

Ah hah! I finally found it, and it was here in HMF all along, as THE ABBOTSFORD ROSE. It's a Ben Williams rose. I see it's called a shrub. Just use the ROSE SEARCH menu to the left and search for THE ABBOTSFORD ROSE. http://www.helpmefind.com/rose/pl.php?n=47219&tab=1
