One of the new roses, a beautiful cerise, has been named after Miss Betty Nuthall, England's 16-year-old lawn tennis player. "It is a sport," said the raiser " and that is what Betty is."

A remarkably fine collection of new roses, ...attracted a large crowd at the National Rose Society's special show at the Royal Horticultural Hall , Westminster, yesterday. ....Another gold medal rose, Flamingo, came from Ireland. It was raised by A. Dickson and Sons, of Newtoenards, County Down.

A remarkably fine collection of new roses, ...attracted a large crowd at the National Rose Society's special show at the Royal Horticultural Hall , Westminster, yesterday. ...One of the best scented roses which they favoured was Margaret Anne Baxter, a large white rose of good form with a pale pink centre. It was raised at Stranraer, Scotland, by Thomas Smith and Sons, who were awarded a gold medal.

The best scented rose which won the gold cup, however, was English - a deep velvety red hybrid tea, raised by Mr. W. E. B. Archer and daughter of Sellinge, Ashford, Kent.

Princess Elizabeth is also of somewhat startling colouring, orange yellow, splashed and edged with deep cerise. It was raised at Gedling, Nottingham, by Wheatcroft Bros.
