Wow! Very impressive growth, especially in Zone 6! Is all of that from one season, or did some cane survive the previous winter?

I have been very surprised and pleased at how hardy this rose is. This year we had an exceptionally bitter winter (for here), with extended periods below -5F. I zone-push a bit, and La France fared much better than many of my other climbers like Etoile de Hollande (killed to the ground), Pinkie and Renae (50% cane death), and Don Juan (75% kill). Also surprisingly, Caroline Testout did nearly as well as La France. Here’s a picture I took just a few minutes ago…I only needed to prune away maybe 5% a few weeks ago, and she’s definitely ready for spring:

Wow, it seems to be hardier than I thought it was. Looks like it would be a good choice for my zone (6B) after all. Thanks!

I'm not sure why it should be, but the climbing version is listed 6b, while the original bush is 7b.
