In the background is a memoire of that wonderful Heritage Roses man, Esmond Jones. I recall Pat Toolan telling us that when she went to Esmond’s funeral, the floods were so high that they were unable to bury him for a week or so in his local cemetery. Probably Esmond would have loved to have ended up in Rookwood, but I am not too sure if the roses would be really flowering too much in the midst of this appalling drought in eastern Australia.
