Yes, doesn't look mauve, but if you look at Seil's photos of 'Angel Face', you will see some very reddish versions, especially in the bud form. There are even some comments regarding this colour.

It is an oddie. The original floribunda bred by Herbert Swim and Ollie Weeks was deep mauve lavender with a characteristic wave of the petal, according to the patent. Does anybody have any objections to merging the following three files? It appears that all three sports might have been the same, just appearing at different times. Angel Face, Cl. (cl. grandiflora, Weeks, 1971) Angel Face, Cl. (cl. floribunda, Haight, 1981) Angel Face, Cl. (cl. floribunda, Ruston 1995)

Although I respect Seil and her experience (she's also a fellow Michigander), her Angel Face as shown in her pictures does not have the form or petal shape that I've ever seen in any versions that I have had in my own gardens or in my reference books. The petals on her specimen have too much of the reflex and proper hybrid tea shape. Angel Face possesses a light ruffle/wave, and the actual variety is not cold hardy in the least.
