Bought as Gem of the Prairies but may be a different rose by Geschwind. Hardy, vigorous grower, prolific spring bloom that lasts quite a while.

Is the name of this rose a hint towards R. setigera... aka the Prairie Rose?

I have another setigera by Geschwind, I will see if there are any similarities in the foliage. Whatever it is, it's hardy to the tips in zone 5,and extremely vigorous. I know Geschwind bred a lot of roses using R. setigera.

Yes, one of his goals was to breed roses hardy to Zone 3, and he experimented with different botanical roses in order to achieve this.
