Nice glandulation ;) Does it have the chinesis peppery smell?

Not that I have noticed while collecting pollen.

I wonder what this rose will do combined with the glandular polyanthas. Most likely mildew-y (if only from all the fuzz!) and micro-mini in stature

It's a very curious rose. How good is it at dwarfing? http://www.helpmefind.com/rose/l.php?l=2.63381.0&tab=36 all look pretty small.

It is intriguing. I haven't seen enough results yet to properly answer your question, but I have hopes.

Well, I remember reading your post a while back that some purple HMusk x this rose had a bitter lemon scent. That would be a fun cross w/ Lemon Delight. It probably was culled, (but since I want to follow that path) how was it like, aside from odor?

Rosy Purple X Cineraire. The repeater looked quite a bit like Lyda Rose, only more dense, less spreading. The darker, once flowering seedling was rangier. Both had the bitter-citrus scent to the new growth. Both were healthy, but the once flowering seedling had chlorosis issues here. I liked the repeater. I wish I'd had room to maintain it, but it's going with the house Tuesday.

Once I can, Ill try this Cineraire x Violet Hood. Hopefully, I will get that smell, on a compact healthy purple repeater. Then, I will outcross to polyanthas and crested and moss roses. Will be fun.

If you remember, how bad were the culls; were there a lot of almost-good ones, or just only 2 decent ones?

Cineraire seeds haven't germinated for me, but its pollen works. Only two germinated from the hip, but there were not many seeds. There may have only been the two seeds. I don't always pay attention to that, particularly with "throw away" crosses. With the Rosy Purple X Lynnie cross, there were three hips with four seeds and two seedlings. Only one was worthwhile. Thornless, single, pink (what else?), lovely foliage, good health, growth like Rosy Purple, great autumn color. That one, I kept.

Good to know! I guess it's too small to make good seeds :p Pink is very strong out of Legacy- over than Carlin's Rhythm, have you ever gotten something not pink or hot red?

Did you ever tried a Lynnie-Fed. cross? Off topic, I know but I was curious.

Not in the first generation. I have gotten white in the first generation, but not a deep pink or red. Second generations can be all over the map from white, through the traditional pinks to even some decent reds. One from Indian Love Call X Cal Poly (if I recall correctly), is peachy-apricoty-yellowish. Can't get to the photos of it at the moment, but it is prickle-free, repeat flowering with some scent and healthy here, for what that's worth. Yes, I've made umpteen dozen Lynnie X Fed. crosses and nothing has appeared to have Fed. in it. There is a bag of seeds still on refrigeration I will plant as soon as the move from Hades is over, of that cross. If it doesn't work one year, it might the next. Or, not. Some seem to delight in thumbing their noses at you.
