Magazine (8 Jul 1876) Page(s) 48. Royal Horticultural Society. July 5. Miscellaneous Plants. ...Mr. Thomas Laxton, of Stamford, showed seven new seedling Roses in excellent condition. Among these Captain Webb is a vivid purplish-crimson; Charles Darwin, crimson-scarlet; Lady Isabel Cecil, straw colour; Dr. Hogg. purple; and Earl Warren, a full rosy-purple variety.

[...] Lady Isabel Cecil is a small, neat, citron-tinted Tea Rose, becoming almost white—a pretty flower, and nicely scented, and one which may some day, when better established, prove useful.

Turner, Paul, Laxton, Cranston, and a few others, have proved exceedingly good, and may be depended upon. The following English-raised Roses are said to be good; but, as I have not yet seen blooms of them, I cannot speak positively as to their merits: Lady Isabel Cecil (Laxton).—A new Tea-scented variety, of great merit; colour, creamy-yellow; size, large.
