Although it is usual to do it under glass, I planted a Climbing Ena Harkness against a warm brick wall as I didn't have a greenhouse. No crossing was attempted. The heps were left to ripen on the plant. The seeds were sown in the new year and most of the seedlings appeared in April. Some were crimson like one of the parents, 'Crimson Glory', and some were scarlet like the other, 'Southport'. Some were pink, some scented and most were shapely. The best was named after my wife, Sylvia Louise. She was so proud.
