Responded extremely well to lifting/dividing/repotting last winter. In spite of that, I will need to lift, place and sacrifice the 22 gallon pot it is in in favor of a 50 gallon or purpose built container. This will absolutely need to be don this fall, but I anticipate a wonderful bloom in the spring. When it is happy, this is one of those plants I can always count on them to bloom in spite of the inevitable thrips.in spring.

Moved this plant out of the wooden planter box that has been its home for at least 5 years. In the process I've discovered that this plant has more of a thicket forming habit - reminiscent of the Gallicas. I dug up the entire mass, separated out three good clumps and replanted in a smaller pot. This is just temporary as I build a more permanent location for it. I suspect, as there was considerable dead wood in the middle, that this plant would benefit from lifting and dividing every 2 or 3 years.
