Graham Stuart Thomas - Rosebook 1994 edition.
The Summer Damasks
Page40
Botzaris
A very pleasing little rose, probably owing its whiteness and distinct fragrance to Rosa Alba.; the hep is not of true Damask shape. Very double, opening flat, creamy white, even lemma-white in the centre, quartered and with button eye.

Does any proof from San Jose Heritage Rose Garden exist that Robert is the breeder? Not any reference knows the breeder.

Yes and no! All these modern books copy one from each other, without - in most cases - citing a source. Digging again my books I found in Dickerson The Old Rose Adventurer p.74: Botzaris ..... R&M-Catalog 1862. Dickerson is one of the few who refers to sources. HMF should only show these kind of references.
