'La Campanella' rose References
Magazine (Sep 2008) Page(s) 32. Includes photo(s). Sean McCann. Roses Abroad: ....Frank Schuurman from New Zealand, who has bred many top class roses, is thrilled with a rose they have just introduced into Japan. He says: "La Campanella is a mutation from an established variety named 'Auckland' and was selected by our agent. It is different from any rose we have ever seen. It is a soft, peachy apricot with many petals arranged almost like a peony, and it is very well received in the Japanese markets with average prices approaching $3 (U.S.) per stem. It also received an award as the best new variety from the Japanese Flower Growers Association. Although he makes no recommendation for garden use, he does say: "It produces good long stems, few thorns, nice glossy foliage, holding extremely long - and best of all, it is different."
