"Matti Hesperia has been found in a park in Helsinki. At first they thought there is was only one variety of this kind and the name was Hesperia. Later it turned out that there are two different roses, one with smooth hips and the other with spines. They were named Maija Hesperia and Matti Hesperia" did Matti Kulju, the owner of nursery Oulojoen Taimisto, write to me on december 28, 2021.

Yes. Matti Hesperia looks like 'Ormiston Roy' and Maija Hesperia not.

"The rose was found in the late 1980s in Helsinki's Hesperia Park, where the variety 'Ormiston Roy', which it resembles, was planted in 1949. In the park grew side by side 'Matti Hesperia' (hips with spines) and 'Maija Hesperia' (smooth hips).
It is possible that ‘Ormiston Roy’ has made seedlings or originally planted ones have not been genuine." Matti Kulju wrote me on december 30, 2021

Thanks. But now there is staying : Maija Hesperia is possible Ormiston Roy. But it has to be: Matti Hesperia is possible Ormiston Roy. Today I ordered Matti Hesperia to compare it with the Ormiston Roy growing at my Garden. So: to be continued...
