[From the article "Italian Rose Breeders" by Stelvio Coggiatti:]
In 1829, a Catalogue descriptif was published in France of the roses grown by Prevert fils at Rouen. In the section dedicated to the Bengal roses, the catalogue describes two varieties 'Belle de Monza'and 'Bella Villoresi', indicating as the raiser the nurseryman Vibert of Saint-Denis [actually it indicates only the name by which the rose was called in the nursery of Vibert]. But the name of 'Bella Villoresi' establishes the identity of the true raiser; and as regards 'Belle de Monza', convincing proof points also to Luigi Villoresi, who was director of the Monza Royal Garden from 1812 to 1825....

Translation:
In 1809 the first tea rose came to Malmaison; its beautiful coloring, their delicious smell, its graceful, if somewhat careless, attitude, attracted a great deal of attention, and the new acquisition gave the impetus to further attempts to increase the number of existing varieties by sowing. Not all attempts were accompanied by the desired success. Sometimes very bad stuff was produced, and yet, for the sake of novelty, multiplied and sent into the world. As such unsuccessful products I have to sue the Pompon d'automne, the belle Villorési, and especially the mère Gigogne or Thea rubra, which came to me from Peacock Island under the name Aitholis plenissima, altogether under eight or nine different names.
