Jack Harkness. New Roses Galore. ….amateur raised rose. One was ‘Rebecca Claire’, raised by M. J. Law, who won with it both the President’s International Trophy and the Edland Medal in 1980. As Mr. Law had no resources to introduce it, he sent it to a nursery which had expressed interest, only to have it turned down eventually. He asked me what to do about it, actually mentioning scrapping it, which I naturally discouraged. He had just enough stock, with luck, for a modest start, but the first order being for 6,000 eyes, made it plain that a far greater supply was necessary; so we have had to hold it for next year.

E. F. Allen. Awards to New Rose Seedlings in Great Britain in 1980.
The President’s International Trophy and a Gold Medal were awarded to ‘Rebecca Claire’ (‘Blessings’ x ‘Redgold’), a HT raised by M. J. Law, of Bedford. Its flowers are of a coral-pink blend, larger than those of ‘Blessings’ and with the petal veins of a deeper carmine, especially notable in the bud stage. Since it is very strongly and reliably scented this fine seedling also received the Henry Edland Medal for fragrance. The display of bloom was particularly fine in August and September so this rose will make a fine bedder.
