So far so wonderful in the pacific northwest- coastal zone 9b/10a. Glowing salmon blooms and a lovely fragrance. Mine is a young plant and just 2 1/2 feet high so far. Very nice. No major pest or disease issues. Not particularly thorny. Nice foliage too. The flowers are slow to open up here in the cool area, so they are enjoyed for a week or more.	REPLY

I am gardening in central texas.

This is a beautiful rose and a handsome bush. It does benefit from a little shade. The fragrance is strong and the color changes are amazing to watch. It is also a relatively slow opener - so you get to enjoy it longer on the plant.

It will get spot if not sprayed regularly - and it will spread quickly. I found that using organic preventatives was sufficient, but you must be consistent in application or the fungus will get the best of this one.

4/15/2009 - Removed plant in 2009 because it did not thrive where it was planted. It clearly perfers some shade in my climate, but semi-shaded locations are at a premium here. It also does not set hips and all seedlings resulting from its use as a pollen parent were suseptible to mildew.
