In letters to Percy Wright, Simonet comments on the pink laxa seedling he used in many of his crosses.

December 13, 1973--"Skinner's] Pink Laxa hybrid . . . a shorter plant, only . . . five feet high . . . is the one I have used in my hybrids.”

February 6, 1974--"I have also used a hybrid of [laxa] from Dr. Skinner, his “Pink Laxa Hybrid,” a semi-double.

May 3, 1974--"I used the pollen of a semi-double pink one that Dr. Skinner . . . sent me. It makes a smaller bush which is also repeat blooming and also has flowers in clusters. No disease has been noticed. This hybrid is likely of the same parentage as Dr. Skinner’s Suzanne that is, Rosa laxa x Rosa spinosissima F2."
