Book (1978) Page(s) 119. 'Joseph Guy' Light red, but bright red, this rose came of an extra influx of Hybrid Tea into Rodhatte', for the breeder used that rose's own Hybrid Tea parent upon it again, in the cross 'Rodhatte' x 'Richmond'. It was introduced in 1921, having been raised by Auguste Nonin & Fils of Chatillon near Paris. It was popular in Continental Europe, and in the United States, where it was named 'Lafayette', and introduced in 1924. But it failed to cross the English Channel in any force.
