Bred by François Marest (France, 1852).
Introduced in Australia by John Baptist in 1861 as 'Prince Léon Kotschoubey'.

Class:

Hybrid Bourbon, Hybrid Perpetual.

Bloom:

Crimson or cherry-red. Strong, sweet fragrance. Average diameter 3.5". Large, very double, in small clusters, cupped-to-flat bloom form. Blooms in flushes throughout the season. Large, leafy sepals, rounded buds.

Habit:

Armed with thorns / prickles. Dark green foliage. 3 to 5 leaflets.

Growing:

USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).
