This very pretty variety is ometimes attributed to the rose-breeder Robert and dated 1850 (Sangerhausen, Modern Roses 10, etc.). In fact, it has been obtained from 1838 by Vibert, his predecessor, who described it as "medium, double, violet, spotted purple".
