Bred by Robert Brown (Scotland, before 1803).
Introduced in Scotland by Dickson and Brown / Dickson and Turnbull in 1803 as 'Small Double White'.

White, yellow undertones.  Medium, semi-double to double, borne mostly solitary bloom form.  Once-blooming spring or summer.  
Habit:
Bushy.  Small, matte foliage.  7 to 9 leaflets.

USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).
