Breeder's notes:
In 1930 a number of crosses were made using R. setigera as the female and Polyantha Pompon varieties as male parents...some plants had very double flowers. Of these one was named Langford. This is doing well at the Experimental Station at Morden, Man. The parents were R. setigera x Aennchen Müller. In color the flowers are pomegranate-purple to deep rose-red and they are very double. The blooming period lasts a month, from early in July to August, and there are quantities of flowers. The shape of the bloom is poor, and it does not set seed.
Patents:
Patent status unknown (to HelpMeFind).
Notes:
Quest-Ritson (see References) says that gallica was the pollen parent. It is not clear whether he refers to the species or to a cultivated form or a gallica hybrid.
