In "Progress in Breeding Hardy Roses," Isabella Preston says, The well beloved yellow dooryard rose, Harison's Yellow, sets quantities of hips but the number of viable seeds they contain is very small. We have grown about fifteen seedlings of which three have been widely distributed and have proved their worth for cold districts. . . . Poliarchus grows into a large spreading mass about four feet high. The flowers are single pale pink fading rapidly to cream.
