This rose looks very similar to the rose I grow that I thought was 'Russelliana'

Yes, Erich Unmuth believes the original 'Himmelsauge' is lost and the rose in commerce is 'Russelliana'.

Two days ago I sowed the collected open pollinated and stratificated seeds of this rose. They're already above the potting soil. There are no descendants mentioned... or should they/these be listed under Russelliana?

How often does this rose bloom, just once in late spring/early summer, or more often than that?

It blooms only once , but it has a long blooming period , more than a month , this is a huge rose. Enormous, and it is winter hardy. Needs plenty of Room

Rosenjahrbuch 2011 page112: ...the so-called Himmelsauge (in trade as) is in fact, as already suspected, Russeliana.... Himmelsauge is possibly already lost for many years.
This was the outcome of visual comparison both plants (growing side by side) in the "Rosenkultivarium Baden" and genetic research by Prof. Anne Bruneau at the "Institut de rechercheen biologie végétale" of the University of Montréal.
