Aquarell has been acceptably healthy in my no-spray garden in the past few years; it did get some blackspot in late summer and it shed a few leaves, but better than the average hybrid tea. Flower quantity is good, but repeat is not that frequent; it tends to produce a huge flush in spring and then occasional blooms here and there. Flowers are often in small clusters. Scent is strong and consistent, but quite unrefined in my opinion (basic citrus-fruity scent). It is quite vigorous and sends up frequent basals, even though it remains compact and about 75cm in height. Quite thorny and upright, but a bit better shrub shape than the average HT. When cut, its flowers look good and last about 5 days (more in the winter).

I believe this variety may well be some kind of hybrid rugosa (probably through Rugelda, as the blooms look very similar to Aquarell's. Augusta Luise's parentage is undisclosed, but I guess it could be Rugelda x some Hybrid tea); young foliage is deeply serrated, much more so than the usual HTs

Either it is not right, that this rose was introduced to the market in 2006 (or 2008 according to the 2012/2013 Rosen Tantau Catalogue) or there are two different varieties named Aquarell. For in the summer 2005 I used Aquarell at the exhibition of florist arrangements. To be exact, I bought glasshouse cut roses from flower wholesale (origin = Holland Flower Bourse).
I´ll post a photo...

It was already introduced in Germany in 1999. See: http://www.helpmefind.com/gardening/l.php?l=2.27218.1
And there are two Aquarelle's.

Tantau's own dates seem incorrect. There is a publication of 2003 which lists introduction as 1999, another from 2006 which states 2002. See also the other comment that trademark protection ended in 2004, which brings us back to 1999.
