Book (1999) Page(s) 462. Includes photo(s). ‘Peter Benjamin’. Modern, large-flowered hybrid tea. Apricot blend, repeat-flowering. This variety suits a warm climate, being grown exclusively in Australia, where it is recommended for exhibition. The flowers, which are a pretty shade somewhere between coral and apricot-pink, are borne on long, strong stems, sometimes sngly but quite often with 2 or 3 blooms together. They open with high centers, holding their form to a late stage, for they are composed of up to 40 firm petals. Flowering is maintained through summer and autumn, and there is a slight fragrance. The plant grows vigorously with an upright habit to average height or more, and is covered with light green foliage. Zones 5-9. Allender, Australia, 1978. ‘Peter Frankenfeld’ x ‘Benjamin Franklin’.
Book (1996) p49 Mrs. Con Ryan, WA. Australian Raised Roses Symposium. ‘Peter Benjamin’ is most attractive as a vase rose. The salmon pink colouring is very popular with ladies.
p58 Mrs. Barbara Gunther, WA. ‘Peter Benjamin’ A pretty clear salmon pink, free-flowering, on a tall bush that seems to have no problems, apart from a tiresome habit of bullnosed blooms. Previous editions of the Rose Annual have featured photographs of championship bunches of this rose in Victorian Rose Society shows – what I am doing wrong, I wonder, that I can never cut more than one or two well-formed blooms at a time. Indeed, I have considered taking the shovel to it, but in the end its health, its delightful colour and its nationality saved it from an untimely end!
p61. Mr. Maurice Daw, WA. ‘Peter Benjamin’. Salmon pink, shapely blossoms are carried on long, slender stems. It is an erect grower, to one and a half metres tall. Repeats flowering quickly. The foliage is not prone to disease. Blooms are pleasantly fragrant.
