Iceberg was my father's favorite rose, in his day they only came in white. I bought several for my daughter's new garden because, like me, she is the sentimental type. I couldn't resist the Brilliant Pink and ordered it from S&W Greenhouse Inc., in Tennessee. The plants I ordered from them were the biggest and best I have received this year, I shall be ordering again and highly recommend them.
The place I had chosen to plant Brilliant Pink turned into a bog at the first heavy rain a few weeks later. I had to dig it up and move it before it drowned. Much to my surprise it was not set back at all. In the cool spring the flowers are very bright with moderate scent. Now that we are into scorching summer they are still bright the first day fading to a soft blush pink with age, the scent is lighter. They fade prettily and do not seem to be bothered by hot dry wind. I should point out the soil is horrible, heavy clay with large gravel.
A neighbor remarked that the bush looks exactly like an illustration in a house plans dream book, and he is right.
If you are wondering why the irrigation line is strapped to the fence? Digging dogs, men operating machinery wiih brains on autopilot, easy to see if there is a catastrophe.
