Another Rose that possesses most charming foliage is Rosomane Narcisse Thomas, and its thornless growths are a beautiful purplish red. I know of no Rose with more beautifully coloured wood. It is well worth growing as an ornamental shrub. The flowers are absurdly small on such a vigorous plant, and yet they are exquisite in colour— apricot yellow, richly-tipped reddish crimson.

"Last Season's Novelties"
I have bloomed and thoroughly tested the following varieties, and can safely say that they are all decided acquisitions.
......
Rosomane Narcisse Thomas, T. - An absolutely unique rose; blooms full and medium size; colour intense burnished copper, with shadings of reddish violet; buds of an intense and uncommon intensity of colour. This variety shows really new shades. A very charming novelty. 1/6.
