Book (1953) p132. Frank Mason, Feilding N.Z. Some Newer Roses. Wilfred Pickles is a large bloom of peach pink, a most taking colour. It is one of those roses that will open in the worst of weathers and will remain good for a long time. The shape is that of the perfect exhibition rose and it will not be long before it will be seen on the exhibition benches. The plant is a strong grower and has healthy disease resistant foliage. To the exhibitor it is a "must."
p136. Mr. Jim Bennett. N. Z. Rose Forum. Wilfred Pickles Good blooms, but not enough, and plant could be more vigorous.
Book (1950) Page(s) 14. Harry H. Hazlewood. The New Roses of 1950. Wilfred Pickles HT. (Oliver Mee, 1949). Here we have a large shapely fragrant bloom of exhibition standard in a peach pink shaded gold colour. The growth is good and the blooms do not seem to mind wet weather.
