I obtained a plant some years ago from Thomas for Roses and have previously posted a picture here. I doubt whether it is really Rouge Mallerin because the flowers sometimes have a distinct vermilion tint and they have no scent at all. Maybe it is one of the Rouge Meillands and someone has confused the names? Does anyone in Australia think they have a true Rouge Mallerin?
On a related point, anyone interested in organising a posse to tar and feather breeders who recycle rose names?

Unfortunately most of them are in countries we can't get to at present.

One of the many fine roses by Charles Mallerin, popular for many years, that deserve to be put back into commerce.

In fact, many of his roses deserve to be brought back--so very few are available. Regardless, any lovely rose with a strong Damask scent should not be allowed to fade from commerce or from sight.

Another superb rose, unfortunately hard to get, is "Night"(McGredy 1921).Very dark red, strong damask fragrance, grows well on own root(at least in New Orleans),very disease resistant and easy to grow.Very vigorous.
