Notre confrère, M. A. N. Pierson, horticulteur-rosiériste à Cromwell Conn.

p. 962: Notes of Novelties, Etc., at the American Institute Show, New York. .....
The novelty roses were out in full force. A. N. Pierson, Inc., Cromwell. Conn., exhibited Milady, a fine red rose, very fragrant, of good color, form and lots of substance. It opens out double and appears to be a splendid keeper.

p. 963: The new rose Milady, which has been awarded many honors at the recent exhibitions, is an American seedling raised by Edward Towill, Roslyn, Pa., from whom the entire stock of this rose was purchased last season by the introducers, A. N. Pierson. Inc., Cromwell, Conn. It is a hybrid tea, a cross between Richmond and J. B. Clark and from the latter parent has taken the characteristic of strong growth, heavy petalage and fragrance. In color, it is similar to the Richmond in the bud but as an open rose it is a very distinct red. By the introducers it is not classed as a crimson, the color being a pleasing shade of red. The flower opens delightfully and owing to its beautiful form in the wide open stage, has made a very decided impression on the public attending the flower shows in the east and on the commercial growers who have seen it both on the exhibition table and growing. The accompanying illustrations show character of growth and it is believed by the introducers to be a free blooming red rose that will be commercially profitable.
