p81 The results of Pemberton's work were interesting and varied, and between the blush-pink 'Daphne' of 1912 and the salmon-pink 'Felicia' of 1928 he introduced a range of sweet-smelling, very free-flowering and recurrent garden shrubs which in many ways has not been surpassed.

As with the earliest floribundas, development of the "Hybrid Musks" was hampered by sterility. Only two of the typical hybrids are recorded as playing a part in further breeding, 'Daphne' (1912) whose parentage has not been published, and 'Danae'....

Daphne Hybrid Musk 1912. 5-6 feet.   Pyramids of small mauve-pink rosettes turn into  tiny red bead-like heps  after the petals fall - while the strong, healthy plant continues to produce new blooming canes without hesitation.  Adjusts itself to conditions where other roses sulk - happy if it receives sunlight for only a short time each day.  A jewel of a rose - sweetly musk scented!
