Book (1953) p41. C. C. Hillary, Perth. W.A. McGredy's Lamplighter is another beautiful rose. Large and shapely, with a high pointed centre, it has the loveliest of colour combinations in pink, salmon, chrome and yellow.
p132. Frank Mason, Feilding N.Z. Some Newer Roses. If Lamplighter would only hold its head up like Talisman it would be good, but it is inclined to droop too much.

Book (1952) Page(s) 16. Harry H. Hazlewood. The New Roses of 1952. Lamplighter (McGredy, 1950). Described as old gold flushed salmon rose with a rich old gold reverse. This variety has not shown, so far, any approach to the rich shades mentioned or illustrated. It may improve later or may be just one of those sorts which do not like a warm climate.

Lamplighter was exhibited for the first time in June 1948, and will not be available to commerce until 1950. It was shown by Mr. Johnston of McGredy's and the ten magnificent bowls which were exhibited created quite a sensation. Lamplighter seems to contain all the gold, orange and apricot shades possible.
