Bred by Gerald Adriaan Van Rossem (Netherlands, before 1941).
Introduced in United States by Jackson & Perkins Co. (Newark, NY) in 1942 as 'Sonata'.

Bloom:
Red, darker reverse, ages to rose-pink .  Mild, fruity fragrance.  up to 30 petals.  Average diameter 4".  Large, full (26-40 petals), borne mostly solitary, high-centered bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  
Habit:
Bushy.  Large, glossy, leathery foliage.  

Height: up to 5" (up to 13cm).  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b and warmer.
