In Texas, April 2023. The kitchen lighting isn't great...but the rose is gorgeous and huge. at least 4" in diameter. We have had a cooler Spring than normal.

It's been a great year for this rose. It keeps putting out new growth with tons of buds. Love it!

September blooms. There are dozens of new shoots budding for October flowers. The best year yet for this rose.

My plant is nine years old, and still puts out new basal canes.

Chateau Frontenac is planted next to Mme. G. Staechelin here and it blooms much later. Often they barely catch each other in bloom. It throws out new canes and blooms again in late July, then a third time in the fall. Mine is from Vintage Gardens.

This is a climber in my No. Cal garden, but may be shorter elsewhere. The scent is fantastic, almost like licorice.
