Lois Tabb. Looking Back. 'Tony Jacklin'. S. McGredy IV 1972. Orange/salmon floribunda, large bush. Usually one of the first roses to flower in spring and although I have seen it exhibited with some success in the North Island, it doesn't seem to be popular here in the South. A vase of 'Tony Jacklin' in the house is really something.

''Tony Jacklin'. (McGredy 1973). Masses of H.T. shaped salmon pink blooms. Very healthy and excellent for showing in the spring, but the heads are not so large in the autumn. Repeats well and is very showy in the garden.

Final Analysis 1983-84.
'Tony Jacklin' McGredy 1972 - 4" diameter, 30 petals, orange salmon, slight fragrance, 32 reports, 8.3 rating. First reports were all very favourable about this introduction, an improved 'City of Leeds' some said, having brighter colour and more shapely blooms. It has been found to be a good show bench variety. Later reports continue in this vein. It is disease free, gives good heads and stems, good colour and even likes our West Coast rain. It often needs staking. So here we have a rose which has retained its high hopes, one for show and garden work. Recommended.

Don Sheppard. Review of Newer Roses 1981-82 Season.
'Tony Jacklin' (McGredy '72, breeding not given). Orange-salmon. 3 reports. 3 years. 5 feet. N.R.S. rating 8.5. West Coast finds this to make a good garden rose for display, free of disease and grows well and Feilding says it flowers very well.
