‘Apricot Nectar’: Floribunda. Parents: semis x ‘Spartan’. Obtenteur: Boerner, 1965.

'Apricot Nectar': Floribunda. Parents: seedling x 'Spartan'. Breeder: Boerner, 1965. Buttons ... sharp, licked with red, flowers, whose petals broad, arranged in further cuts, undulating like a skirt flying, are colored on a yellow background, a blend of peach and apricot. ‘Apricot Nectar’: Floribunda. Boerner, USA, 1965.

'Apricot Nectar': Floribunda. Since its launch the success of this rose has never wavered. And how to resist the flowers in perfect cutting, golden apricot skin warmed by a hint of pink? ... They are so full and so wide that sometimes, especially in hot climates, we must remove buttons, or they overwrite each other in the inflorescence ... Boerner, United States, 1965.

Apricot Nectar... a beautiful pink-apricot with a gold base and a lovely perfume... for many years it was very healthy. But a virus problem raised its head and the plant quickly deteriorated. However, help was at hand and special attention was given it by Mr. E.F. (Ted) Allen, past Hon. Scientific Adviser to the Royal National Rose Society, and grower Pat Dickson from Northern Ireland. Between them they decided that the virus in the plant could be cleaned by heat treatment. It worked. New budwood from the very tips of the stems was provided and the rose is still available today. The virus problem didn't develop in Australia and America... somewhere during the initial planting of the variety to provide budding material it picked up a virus.
