I remember the romantica roses from meilland and the generosa roses from Guillot arriving in nurseries in CA, USA, in about the late 1990s, I think. It seems like there was a bit of buzz about the romanticas. I remember thinking the generosas looked nicer, at least in nursery pots. Then they seemed to disappear after only about two years.

Arena Roses held the rights to the Generosa roses. Once Arena went bankrupt, no one else picked them up. I guess either no one else was sufficiently impressed; the introducers remaining had enough with the English and Romantica roses or the prices wanted for the Generosa rights seemed more than was desirable. The few I grew were definitely more like climbers in my climate.
