I live in zone 5 and want to find a rose that blooms all summer and is shade tolerent. Color of bloom not important. But I would love and old garden rose or a double. And if it is not asking to much frgrant. Thanks Pam

Pam.......
I'd love to be able to give you a list of roses to check out, but you have two things working against having a "long" list. First, roses growing in zone 5 will have to be quite hardy. The second issue is your desire for a rose that is shade tolerant. Even if a rose is billed as shade tolerant, that does not mean it will thrive and bloom well in shade conditions.
As a class of rose, I think you might want to check out the rugosa roses. Some repeat very well, most are very hardy, many have old fashioned blooms and some are fragrant. To find all of this in one rose may take a bit more research.

Pam,
Do a little research on Zepherine Drouhin. It is shade tolerant here in my zone 6, is very fragrant, and an old garden rose that climbs about 8 feet. Bonus! It is thornless! Check with the nurseries in your area to see if it will survive in your climate.
Happy roses! Snippy

Darlow's Enigma came to mind right away. It's not a full petaled rose, but it is a good repeater, fragrant, shade tolerant and listed to zone 4. http://www.helpmefind.com/rose/pl.php?n=1455
