While visiting Wernigerode, Germany (in the former East Germany) in Aug 2006 we saw two rose bushes in a small park by the road covered with beautiful light lavender-pink roses.  They had a lovely, perfumy fragrance. I picked one and the strong fragrance lasted all night (and maybe longer, I can't recall).
