*** Growing near Houston, TX: sub tropical zone 9a. Mild winters, hot, extremely humid summers that last half the year. No spray garden. ***
Purchased from Angel Gardens 2011.
Update Oct 2012- Not a vigorous grower (one cane wonder). Had it in the garden, but it just sort of languished there, so now it's back in a pot (3 gallon) for now. I may find a better spot for it. Flowers open well and are fragrant and pretty.
April 2013- STILL a one-caned wonder, but is healthy so I've transplanted it into a 20 gallon pot. Probably the most highly fragrant rose in my garden.
5/24/2014 - Planted in new garden.
9/22/2015- no longer a one caned wonder. I had to stake it though because the base isn't wide enough yet to support all the top growth. Needs to be pruned. Right now it is about 4x3 (though some of the width is due to the canes bending over).
4/2016- gave it a good pruning, and it is growing back bushier. This is one of my favorites. The scent is amazing, and it's a good bloomer. I bought another from reagans
4/10/2021- My grafted plant died, but my "little" own root is still going strong. I really love this rose. Thus plant is one that needs a good hard prune in the spring, otherwise the long canes tend to sort of flop. I wouldn't call Liv Tyler a climbing rose, but she can be unruly.
